Finds from the past

The past long weekend was a perfect trip to stop at some garage sales. I will pass the beanie baby and G.I.Joe lawn sales and rather stop at the used farm equipment . First buy a hand lawn mower for $30 and it starts every time!

........... and a vintage garden chair.

..............a barn light.

...............starburst wall clock from the 50's

... a dozen of old mason jars and a milkman's wire crate

........... but here come my best find, an old handwritten historical farmer's journal .

....and read THIS

  1. This is an astounding find! I wonder why it wasn't kept in the family?? I'm so happy you rescued it so that we can all appreciate this little bit of history. Wonderful post.

  2. The historian in me is quite envious! What an amazing find...women's history surfaces in such journals. Wouldn't it be neat to transfer passages to fabric and create a quilt of some kind? I inherited my grandmother's hand written recipe notebooks and am still mulling over the possibilities...
