Lots of colour on an icy cold Sunday

Are you kidding me - spring in Ontario? Today I woke up at the cottage imagining myself somewhere in Italy opening the tall shutter doors and overlooking a tidy Chianti countryside and everything is green - well that's just a dream.

Blue sky and temperatures well below zero and more snow.

The snow was the perfect background for my finished quilt top

I love the rich and vibrant colours in all of her collections. 

I just had to have some of  the " social climber roses" in this quilt.

While sewing all these squares together I remembered my neighbour back in Germany.

She was the kindest old lady where we were send off as kids for an afternoon board game match. Miraculously I won almost every Chinese Checkers game. But most of all what I remembered that she was an artist, a painter. Her walls were covered with landscape oil paintings and her sunroom had a burst of climbing roses painted directly on the wall like this fabric.

Sewing seeds of kindness

This is the my first Wiksten tank top - a gift sewn by Doris.

We met for the first time last year at a sewing retreat.

Doris had the great idea to try out the pattern and she wanted to make one for me.

A quilt for River

This is River.

I decided to make a baby quilt for our friends with a bow tie pattern.

Kona Fabric

left over fabric scraps

backing: organic flannel

48 squares with a mix of solid Kona colours  (6"x6")

ready to sew the rows together

and for the binding I chose a charcoal/black polka dot

and stitched his name and date on the label
